IMPACT Program to educate Youth about Road Safety

The Antoine Alléno Association is inviting applications from any startup capable of providing any form of solution that either avoids an accident, limits the impact of a collision or encourages more responsible driving behaviour.

To meet this challenge, they are organizing IMPACT, a public event which will be held during the 9th edition of Viva Technology in Paris in June 2025.

Aims
  • The aim of IMPACT is to help educate users about the risks associated with mobility and to lower the number of young people who die on the roads each year.
Challenges
  • Challenge 1: Solutions that prevent accidents
    • Context/Need:
      • Every year, road accidents claim the lives of far too many young people. Effective accident prevention is therefore essential, particularly for young people who are in the process of acquiring independent mobility. Identifying, anticipating and correcting high-risk situations before they become fatal is a priority.
    • Expected Solutions:
      • Technological innovations or innovative approaches that anticipate dangers and actively intervene, particularly with the driver, to prevent accidents. This may include advanced driver assistance systems, re-use of data about high-risk areas, intelligent infrastructures, vehicle control devices or any other solution capable of preventing such accidents.
  • Challenge 2: Solutions that limit the impact and protect drivers/users, whatever their mode of transport, in the event of an accident
    • Context/Need:
      • Even with the best precautions, accidents are sometimes unavoidable. Minimising their impact is essential to reduce the serious injuries and deaths associated with them. It is also necessary to develop solutions that effectively protect individuals when an accident occurs. Minimising the impact also means raising awareness of vital first aid.
    • Expected Solutions:
      • Solutions based on technologies or materials that better absorb or disperse energy during an impact. These solutions could include innovations in vehicle design, improved personal safety equipment, or intelligent road safety systems.
  • Challenge 3: Prevention solutions that encourage responsible driving behaviour.
    • Context/Need:
      • Adopting responsible and cautious driving habits is a fundamental prerequisite for reducing the risk of accidents. Raising awareness and encouraging drivers, particularly young people, to adopt these practices contributes significantly to reducing the death rate on roads.
    • Expected Solutions:
      • The expected solutions should promote safe and responsible driving through applications or in-vehicle systems that encourage sound practices and responsible driving. The aim is to transform the driving experience to create a real and lasting change in driver behavior.
