About Calabar Carnival Commission
The Calabar Festival Carnival Commission is the Cross River State Government agency that organises the annual Calabar Carnival, widely regarded as "Africa's biggest street party". Held every December, the Carnival features costumed parades, music, dance, and cultural displays, attracting tens of thousands of tourists and generating significant tourism revenue for Cross River State. The Carnival was initiated by former Governor Donald Duke in 2004 and has become one of the most important cultural tourism events in West Africa.
