Who we are

PoliWatch Africa is a Pan-African civic technology and governance non-profit dedicated to strengthening public accountability, transparency, and informed citizen participation across the continent. Our work sits at the intersection of open data, digital infrastructure, and public-interest research — we build tools that make public information easier to find, verify, and act on.

We believe that better information leads to better decisions. That applies to citizens holding their governments accountable, journalists investigating policy outcomes, researchers tracking institutional performance, and entrepreneurs navigating regulation. PoliWatch Africa exists to reduce the friction between people who need public information and the public information itself.

What we do

Four programmatic pillars anchor our work across Africa

Open Data & Transparency

We publish, structure, and make public datasets usable — from government budgets to procurement records to economic indicators.

Civic & Business Platforms

We build and operate digital platforms that serve the public interest, including All Business Africa and other reference tools for African institutions.

Research & Analysis

We conduct original research on governance, public finance, and institutional performance across African jurisdictions.

Partnerships & Capacity

We partner with civil society organizations, think tanks, universities, and public bodies to strengthen their data and digital capacity.

All Business Africa is a PoliWatch Africa platform

All Business Africa (ABA) is owned and operated by PoliWatch Africa as part of our open-data programme. The platform aggregates information on African enterprises, investors, public institutions, and development partners into a single, searchable reference — and it embodies the same principle that guides our other work: public information should be easy for the public to use.

Editorial direction, dataset priorities, and overall governance of the platform sit with PoliWatch Africa. The technology partner that builds and maintains the platform on our behalf is PANEOTECH, a Pan-African digital systems engineering firm. This separation — editorial ownership with PoliWatch Africa, technical execution with PANEOTECH — keeps both organizations focused on what they do best.
