DAAR Communications / Africa Independent Television

DAAR Communications PLC is the parent company of Africa Independent Television (AIT), Raypower FM, and DAARSAT, founded in 1988 by High Chief Raymond Dokpesi OFR (a Nigerian media magnate and Ijaw political figure, 1951-2023). DAAR Communications was the first privately-owned Nigerian television network to broadcast nationwide and transformed the Nigerian broadcasting landscape by breaking the government broadcasting monopoly. The group is listed on the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX: DAARCOMM) and continues to operate under Dokpesi family management following High Chief Raymond Dokpesi's death in May 2023.
