Madhvani Group is one of East Africa's oldest and largest indigenous conglomerates, founded in 1908 by Muljibhai Madhvani. Operating Kakira Sugar Works (one of Africa's largest sugar producers), tea, packaging, hospitality (Mweya Safari Lodge, Paraa Safari Lodge), steel, and floriculture. The Madhvani family returned to Uganda after Idi Amin's 1972 expulsion and rebuilt the group.
