The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), headquartered in Cairo, is the leading multilateral trade finance institution dedicated to financing and promoting intra- and extra-African trade. Afreximbank successfully closed a USD 2 billion syndicated term loan in March 2026 to expand its trade finance operations. The bank provides direct trade financing, supply chain loans for SMEs and midcaps, project financing, and credit lines to African banks. Afreximbank operates the Pan-African Payment and Settlement System (PAPSS) and the African Energy Bank co-owned with African Petroleum Producers.
