The International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector arm of the World Bank Group, is one of the most active DFI lenders in African SME finance. Recent facilities include USD 10 million for Lula (South Africa, November 2025), EUR 50 million for Société Générale Sénégal (March 2026), CFA 14.5 billion (USD 25.5 million) for BOA Congo, USD 50 million plus USD 15 million sustainability-linked for M-KOPA, and USD 100 million subordinated for Equity Bank Kenya. IFC operates SME-focused windows including Banking on Women, Climate Finance, and the Africa SME Finance programme.
