Description

The Uwezo Fund is a Kenyan government initiative founded under Legal Notice No. 21 in September 2013 providing interest-free loans to youth, women, and persons with disabilities at the constituency level. Loans range from KES 50,000 to KES 500,000 for groups, accessed through table banking groups registered with relevant county offices. Since inception to June 2021, the fund has disbursed KSh 6.9 billion to 74,884 groups (47,720 women groups, 25,264 youth groups, 1,900 PWD groups), with an average loan size of KSh 92,142. The fund is highly devolved with bottom-up decision-making at the grassroots level. Allocation: KSh 200 million for FY 2024/2025.
