At One Ventures is a San Francisco-based venture capital firm founded in 2020 by Tom Chi, a former Head of Experience and founding member of Google X. The firm focuses on investing in early-stage startups that leverage disruptive deep technologies to transform traditional industries while minimizing their ecological footprint. Their mission is to help humanity become a net positive to nature by supporting companies that can reset the industries causing the most damage to the planet, such as buildings and construction, energy and transportation, and food and agriculture. The firm manages over $525 million across two funds and has invested in 35 startups to date, including battery recycler Ascend Elements, de-extinction company Colossal Biosciences, and biodegradable packaging supplier Cruz Foam. The investment team has backgrounds in physical sciences, engineering, manufacturing, and finance, enabling them to deeply evaluate physical/hardware businesses and understand what it takes to commercialize technology and successfully displace existing industries. They also provide full-time experts to help their founders in areas such as talent, operations, marketing, IP/patent strategy, and manufacturing.
