About Emil Michael

Emil Michael is a seasoned angel investor and former Chief Business Officer at Uber, with decades of experience in identifying and leading high-growth technology companies. He has been instrumental in building and scaling companies such as Tellme Networks, Klout, Uber, and Bandit. His keen eye for anticipating technology shifts has led him to invest in and advise tech companies like Brex, GoPuff, Perplexity, Revolut, SpaceX, and Stripe, aiding them in securing capital and executing hypergrowth strategies. Emil currently serves on the boards of Homebound and Workrise. During his tenure as Uber's Chief Business Officer from 2013 to 2017, Emil led the company's efforts in China and Russia, resulting in substantial market value creation. He played a pivotal role in raising nearly $20 billion in capital from investors globally and led the merger of Uber's China operations with Didi Chuxing. Additionally, he spearheaded partnerships with companies such as American Express, AT&T, Daimler, SoftBank, Tata Motors, and Toyota. Emil also founded UberMilitary, a program at Uber for military veterans and their families. Prior to Uber, Emil served as Chief Operating Officer of Klout, where he played a pivotal role in growing the social media analytics company, which was sold to Lithium Technologies for $200 million in 2014. Before joining Klout, he was a White House Fellow working for the Secretary of Defense as a Special Assistant, managing projects in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Pakistan. Emil was also part of the founding team of Tellme Networks, a pioneer in speech recognition technology, which was sold to Microsoft in 2007. He began his career at Goldman Sachs as an Associate in the Investment Banking Division. Emil holds a B.A. from Harvard University and a J.D. from Stanford Law School.
