Envest Microfinance Cooperative is a Wisconsin-based impact investment fund manager established in 2006. The organization focuses on providing financing to microfinance institutions (MFIs) in developing countries, aiming to generate social and environmental benefits. Envest's mission is to make financial services universally available by bridging the gap between microfinance and financial markets, using financially sound market mechanisms and expanding the scope of microfinance to include the financing of appropriate sustainable technology. Envest's portfolio is diversified across 24 independent MFIs in 12 countries, including Colombia, Honduras, India, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Kenya, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Moldova, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan. The organization primarily targets small MFIs with assets under $20 million, focusing on lending to traditionally marginalized borrowers, such as indigenous people, war refugees, women, and rural residents.
