About Hitachi Ventures

Hitachi Ventures is the corporate venture capital arm of Hitachi, Ltd., established in June 2019 to invest in innovative startups with strategic relevance to Hitachi. The firm focuses on early-stage and growth-stage technology companies that address significant global challenges across various sectors, including mobility, healthcare, energy, and IT. With offices in Munich, Santa Clara, and Boston, Hitachi Ventures has a global presence, covering Europe, Israel, and North America. The firm's investment strategy emphasizes collaboration with startups to develop technologies and create businesses that address society's key technological challenges. Hitachi Ventures seeks to connect innovators with industries, adding mutual value through close partnerships, a global network, and strategic development. In February 2025, Hitachi Ventures announced the establishment of its fourth corporate venture capital fund, HV Fund IV, with a commitment of $400 million, bringing the firm's total assets under management to $1 billion. This fund aims to capture technological turning points and future growth opportunities by investing in startups operating in cutting-edge digital technologies such as data centers, distributed energy systems, future of work, industrial AI, and emerging frontiers like bioengineering, quantum computing, nuclear fusion, life sciences, and space technology. Hitachi Ventures has built a strong investment team and currently manages a portfolio of 38 companies, including newly born unicorns that meet the criteria of more than $1 billion in valuation and within 10 years of establishment. About half of this portfolio has already begun collaborating with Hitachi's business units and group companies, contributing to accelerated implementation of cutting-edge technologies and business models. By leveraging these achievements under a world-class CVC investment scale, combined with the development of cutting-edge technologies through its own R&D, Hitachi Ventures aims to anticipate the latest transitions in technology and society, linking them to business creation, thus achieving sustainable growth.
