Markos Veremis is a prominent Greek entrepreneur and investor, recognized for his significant contributions to the technology and digital services sectors. He co-founded Upstream, a global mobile commerce platform, in 2002, serving as its CEO until 2017 and currently holding the position of Chairman of the Board. Under his leadership, Upstream expanded its operations to over 50 countries, partnering with major telecommunications companies such as Vodafone, T-Mobile, and Orange. The company achieved revenues of $250 million and served more than 100 million customers worldwide. In addition to his role at Upstream, Veremis is a founding partner at Big Pi Ventures, a venture capital firm based in Athens. Veremis has been instrumental in supporting early-stage technology companies, including Persado, Workable, SoftOne, Softomotive (acquired by Microsoft), Accusonus (acquired by Meta), and Flexfin (acquired by Alpha Bank). Veremis holds a Bachelor of Arts in Politics and International Studies from Warwick University and a Master of Philosophy in European Studies from Oxford University.
