Niterra Co., Ltd., formerly known as NGK Spark Plug Co., Ltd., established its corporate venture capital fund in April 2021 to invest in innovative technologies and business models. The fund focuses on sectors such as mobility, energy, environment, healthcare, and communications, aiming to accelerate the creation of new businesses and contribute to a sustainable society. Through this initiative, Niterra seeks to collaborate with startups and entrepreneurs to drive technological advancements and address global challenges. In May 2024, Niterra expanded its venture capital activities by launching the 'SUISO no MORI' (Hydrogen Forest) project, a corporate venture capital fund jointly operated with Global Brain Corporation. This fund is dedicated to supporting startups related to hydrogen and carbon circulation, aligning with Niterra's commitment to environmental sustainability and carbon neutrality. The project includes a demonstration field at Niterra's Komaki Plant in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, to support technological development and growth of startups in this field. Niterra's venture capital fund has made strategic investments in various startups, including Vivalink Medical, Inc., a provider of digital healthcare solutions. This investment aims to enhance healthcare through remote patient monitoring platforms, leveraging wearable sensors and data services to improve patient care. By investing in such innovative companies, Niterra demonstrates its dedication to advancing technologies that contribute to societal well-being and environmental sustainability.
