Pallidus Alternative Investments
About Pallidus Alternative Investments
Pallidus Alternative Investments is an independent corporate finance advisory, investment banking, and investment management firm based in South Africa. The firm manages investments exceeding R4.9 billion, focusing on debt and equity instruments across various industries, either directly or through associates like Ascension and Palamo. Pallidus acts as a trusted corporate finance advisor to corporates, multi-nationals, and high-net-worth individuals, offering services such as mergers and acquisitions, equity or debt capital raisings, empowerment (BEE) transactions, and general corporate finance matters. The firm's most valuable assets are its hand-picked people, integrity, and reputation, which are the three pillars on which its business is built and which it will never compromise. In addition to corporate finance advisory, Pallidus has positioned itself to access various sources of capital for the specific needs of its clients, which is critical for them to achieve their long-term goals. Pallidus therefore marries an investor’s need for good returns with the corporate clients’ need for capital (both equity and debt) – a win-win for both. The firm has a distinctive, focused approach that is tailor-made to each client’s unique needs, developing and delivering independent, innovative, integrated, and intelligent solutions in a simple, effective manner. Pallidus is licensed as a sponsor of companies listed on the JSE and as a designated advisor to the JSE’s AltX Exchange. Pallidus is also licensed as issuer agent of the Cape Town Stock Exchange for equity and debt. Pallidus is a founding shareholder of and was instrumental in the establishment of 4 Africa Exchange (4AX) Proprietary Limited, a fully-fledged exchange in South Africa, licensed to trade equity and debt. Pallidus was responsible for the establishment, design, capitalization, and incubation of 4AX. Pallidus has a deep knowledge of 4AX and the applications thereof as it was integral in the drafting of the application, listing requirements, and exchange rules of 4AX and places Pallidus in a unique position to advise new issuers on listing on 4AX and develop products to be listed on 4AX. The firm's focus is primarily on South Africa, and it has established various investment banking business lines, including M&A and corporate finance advisory services, a uniquely structured Venture Capital Fund, stockbroking, and principal investments. Pallidus is also in an advanced stage of establishing a black private equity business and a private equity fund focusing on agricultural investments. Pallidus has been involved in several significant transactions, including advising its longstanding client, VKB, in executing a part of its value unlock strategy by seamlessly realizing embedded value within its wine production operations. The firm has also partnered closely with Traxtion since 2021, gaining deep insight into the African rail sector and the strategic priorities and capital needs of Traxtion. Additionally, Pallidus has been instrumental in the establishment of the Cape Town Stock Exchange (CTSE), serving as a debt issuer agent and contributing to the development of the exchange's infrastructure and operations. The firm's commitment to sustainable solutions is evident in its involvement in projects like Akademia's new Pretoria campus, where Pallidus played a key role in securing the capital required to bring this campus vision to life. This reflects Pallidus's dedication to empowering clients to achieve their goals while making a sustainable contribution to a stronger, more prosperous South Africa.
