About this Program
The Innovation Prize for Africa (IPA) is an initiative of the African Innovation Foundation (AIF), launched in 2012, to nurture African ideas and innovations and strengthen African innovation ecosystems. IPA awards focus on five sectors: Agriculture/Agribusiness, Environment/Energy/Water, Health and Wellbeing, ICTs, and Manufacturing/Service Industry. The prize recognises African citizens or origin individuals who have moved beyond just an idea to a developed innovation. Each application is independently reviewed by at least two judges from a panel of experts, with face-to-face interviews preceding the awards ceremony. Past editions hosted in Addis Ababa, Cape Town, Abuja, Skhirat, Gaborone, and Accra.

Eligibility
African citizens or persons of African origin. Innovation must be developed beyond just an idea. Solution must address a clear problem with an innovative approach assessed against similar global solutions.
