Overview
The African Economic Research Consortium (AERC), one of Africa most active research and capacity building institutions, is recruiting a Farmer Trainer on Entrepreneurship in Agribusiness for an assignment in Kenya. The trainer will deliver structured training to smallholder farmers on agribusiness entrepreneurship, business planning, market access, financial literacy and value chain participation as part of an AERC capacity building programme linked to its agricultural economics research agenda.
Scope of Work
Inception meeting and training design with AERC programme team. Adaptation of training materials to the target farmer audience and Kenyan context. Delivery of farmer training sessions in selected locations across Kenya per the agreed schedule. Use of participatory adult learning methods. Provision of training materials in English and Swahili. Post-training follow-up where required. Trainer report including attendance, learning outcomes and recommendations.
Requirements & Qualifications
Demonstrated experience training smallholder farmers in entrepreneurship, agribusiness or related topics in Kenya or East Africa. Background in agricultural economics, agribusiness, extension or related field. Strong facilitation skills and ability to deliver in English and Swahili. Familiarity with smallholder farming contexts in Kenya.
Evaluation Criteria
AERC standard consultancy evaluation: CV review, training methodology, references, financial proposal. Combined scoring; award to highest combined score.
