American University of Nigeria

American University of Nigeria (AUN) is a private university located in Yola, Adamawa State, Nigeria, founded in 2005 by former Nigerian Vice-President Atiku Abubakar GCON, making it Nigeria's first American-style university. AUN offers undergraduate and graduate programmes in business, computer science, information systems, arts and sciences, and law, and is accredited by both the National Universities Commission of Nigeria and reviewed by American accrediting agencies. The university has played a significant role in development and peacebuilding efforts in North-East Nigeria, particularly during and after the Boko Haram insurgency.
