Aslina Wines
South Africa's first black female winemaker
About Aslina Wines
Aslina Wines is a pioneering South African black female-owned wine brand founded by Ntsiki Biyela, South Africa's first black female winemaker. Born in rural KwaZulu-Natal, Ntsiki trained as a winemaker at Stellenbosch University after winning a scholarship, and launched Aslina Wines (named after her late grandmother) in 2016. The brand produces Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Umsasane (her signature red blend) using grapes sourced from the Western Cape, and has become one of South Africa's most internationally celebrated black-owned wine brands, exported to multiple international markets.
