About Dormans Coffee
Dormans Coffee Limited is East Africa's premier coffee roaster and Kenya's first coffee roasting company, founded in 1950 by Charles and Ellen (Helen) Dorman. Part of the global Ecom Group, Dormans operates factories, warehouses, and processing plants in Nairobi, Moshi (Tanzania), Dar-es-Salaam, and Kigali (Rwanda). The company is led by Managing Director Rozy Rana who joined Dormans in 1992. More than 90% of the coffee Dormans roasts is sourced from Kenya, with the remainder from Tanzania and Rwanda. Dormans supplies over 1,000 B2B clients including hotels, coffee shops, supermarkets, and wholesalers, with its top 20 clients accounting for 55-60% of total sales volumes. The company established Africa's first coffee training school, the Nairobi School of Coffee, and pioneered the Kenya National Barista Championships. Dormans holds FSSC 22000, FLO Fair Trade, UTZ, and USFDA certifications. Its sister company C. Dorman Limited is a green coffee exporter serving international roasters and importers. Dormans sold its retail coffee shop chain in 2012-2013 to focus on B2B.
