About Effutu Traditional Council
The Effutu Traditional Council represents the Effutu people of Winneba in Central Region, Ghana, one of Ghana's most culturally distinctive coastal communities. Winneba is famous for the annual Aboakyer (Deer Hunting) Festival held every May, in which two rival Asafo companies (Tuafo and Dentsefo) compete to catch a live bush deer for traditional sacrifice. The festival attracts thousands of domestic and international tourists and is a major Ghanaian cultural tourism draw.
