Kalawa Jazmee Records

Kalawa Jazmee Records is one of South Africa's most influential independent music labels, founded in 1992 by Oscar Mdlongwa (Oskido), Don Laka, Christos Katsaitis, and Bruce "Dope" Sebitlo (the latter two of the Boom Shaka fame). Based in Johannesburg, Kalawa Jazmee pioneered kwaito music (a distinctly South African genre that emerged post-apartheid), releasing landmark records by Mdu, Thebe, Mandoza, Bongo Maffin, Brothers of Peace, and countless others. The label is credited with shaping the sound of post-apartheid South African youth music and remains active in the amapiano era.
