Kano Leather Tanners Association

The Kano Leather Tanners Association represents the historic Kano leather tanning cluster, which has been one of West Africa's premier leather processing centres since pre-colonial times. Kano tanneries process sheep, goat, and cattle hides sourced from Northern Nigeria and the Sahel, producing finished leather for export to European fashion houses, luxury goods manufacturers, and footwear producers. Kano leather remains among the most highly-valued in global leather markets and is a significant Nigerian non-oil export.
