About Ol Pejeta Conservancy
Ol Pejeta Conservancy is a 90,000-acre non-profit private wildlife conservancy in Laikipia County, Kenya, and is East Africa's largest black rhino sanctuary. The conservancy is home to the last two northern white rhinos on earth (Najin and Fatu) and a thriving population of other endangered species including Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe, and chimpanzees (at the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary, the only chimpanzee sanctuary in Kenya). Ol Pejeta generates its operating revenue through tourism (it hosts Sweetwaters Serena Camp, Ol Pejeta Bush Camp, and several other lodges), cattle ranching (with a conservation-compatible Boran cattle herd), and philanthropic funding, and reinvests surplus into conservation, community development, and scientific research programmes. The conservancy is managed as a private-sector non-profit and is one of the most-visited wildlife destinations in Kenya.
