United Nigerian Textiles

United Nigerian Textiles Limited (UNTL) is one of Nigeria's oldest and largest textile manufacturers, based in Kaduna with operations in Lagos. Established in 1964 as a joint venture between Nigerian investors and Hong Kong-based Cha Group, UNTL has operated multiple spinning, weaving, dyeing, and printing mills producing African print fabrics, cotton textiles, and apparel for the Nigerian and West African markets. The Nigerian textile industry, which once employed over 350,000 workers at its peak in the 1980s, has suffered significant decline due to smuggling, counterfeit imports, and power challenges, but UNTL remains one of the leading surviving indigenous Nigerian textile manufacturers.
