Union of Tailors and Fashion Designers of Abia

The Union of Tailors and Fashion Designers of Abia State (UTFD) is the umbrella association representing Aba's garment-making cluster of approximately 50,000 tailors and fashion designers, and a significant export force with thousands of Aba-made garments shipped informally to Cameroon, Cote d'Ivoire, Ghana, and other West African countries weekly. Aba tailors have a reputation for quality and resilience, and some sew garments directly for European and American boutiques. The association coordinates training, standards, and market access for its members, with over 30,000 registered tailors.
