Construction of Siguiri 225/30 kV Substation, PIEGM

Works contract under the Guinea-Mali Interconnection Project (P166042). Scope covers design studies, civil works, supply and installation of high-voltage equipment including a 225/30 kV transformer, switchgear, control and protection systems, and commissioning of the Siguiri substation. The contract has two currency components: an initial value of EUR 6,299,169.60 plus GNF 18,756,169,819.18, and a subsequent price adjustment of EUR 1,600,552.82 representing 25.41 percent of the EUR component. As of 30 September 2024 the overall physical progress was 60.38 percent. Implementation has been delayed by late delivery of design studies and plans, by the contractor failing to renew an expired bank guarantee in time which prevented project payments, and by the suspension of works for nearly two months in July and August 2024 due to flooding from heavy seasonal rains. Following the lifting of the payment block, works resumed and the main electrical equipment, including the transformer, was scheduled for delivery in Conakry by 30 November 2024. The implementation schedule was revised and completion is now expected by 28 February 2025. Contractor name not disclosed in the public Implementation Status Report.
