Togo is a small West African economy that punches above its weight through its strategic Lome deep-water port, the only natural deep-water port in the region. The port handles transit goods for landlocked Burkina Faso, Niger, and Mali. Key sectors include phosphate mining, agriculture (coffee, cocoa, cotton), and port/logistics services. Togo has emerged as a digital economy pioneer in West Africa with its Togolese digital ID system and mobile-based cash transfer programs. The country benefits from CFA franc stability and is implementing an ambitious national development plan.
