Balaji S. Srinivasan is an American entrepreneur, scientist, and investor known for his contributions to technology and cryptocurrency. He is the author of 'The Network State: How to Start a New Country' and the founder of the Network School, a retreat for entrepreneurs and technicians in Malaysia. Previously, he was the co-founder of the genomics company Counsyl, the former chief technology officer (CTO) of cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase, and former general partner at the venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz. Srinivasan has been an early investor in numerous successful tech companies and crypto protocols, including Alchemy, Benchling, CoinTracker, Digital Ocean, Luma, OpenGov, OpenSea, Orchid Health, Paradigm, Perplexity, Polychain, Polymarket, Prospera, Replit, Starkware, Stedi, Superhuman, Valar Atomic, Varda, Zodl, and Zora. He led the launch of USDC as Coinbase CTO and was an early investor in many important crypto protocols, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Avalanche, Chainlink, NEAR, Polygon, XMTP, and Zcash. In December 2023, Srinivasan launched the Balaji Fund, a venture fund with investors such as Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong, AngelList co-founder Naval Ravikant, and venture capitalist Fred Wilson.
