David Roux

David Roux is an American angel investor and philanthropist based in Virginia, United States. He is the managing partner of BayPine, a private equity firm he co-founded. Prior to BayPine, Roux co-founded Silver Lake Partners, a leading technology-focused private equity firm, where he served as co-CEO and chairman. He has also held leadership roles at Oracle Corporation and Lotus Development Corporation. Roux began his career as a software entrepreneur, founding Datext, the first commercial CD-ROM publishing company, which was acquired by Lotus Software. Roux's investment strategy focuses on technology-driven companies across various stages, from seed to late-stage investments. He has a diverse portfolio that includes companies in sectors such as healthcare, financial services, media and entertainment, consumer goods, energy, telecommunications, retail, transportation, education, real estate, manufacturing, agriculture, hospitality, and construction. His investments span multiple geographical regions, including the United States, United Kingdom, China, India, Germany, France, Japan, South Korea, Canada, Australia, Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, Russia, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, and Belgium. He serves as chairman of The Jackson Laboratory, an independent biomedical research institute, and has been a significant benefactor to the organization. He and his wife, Barbara, established The Roux Institute at Northeastern University in Portland, Maine, to promote regional economic development and innovation in digital engineering and computational biology. Roux's philanthropic efforts also include support for education, conservation, biomedical research, global public health, and veterans organizations through the Roux Family Foundation.
