About Ham Serunjogi

Ham Serunjogi is the Co-Founder and CEO of Chipper Cash, a fintech company he co-founded in 2018. Chipper Cash offers free, instant, cross-border peer-to-peer money transfers and personal investments, as well as solutions for businesses and merchants to process online and in-store payments. The company operates in nine countries: Ghana, Uganda, Nigeria, Tanzania, Rwanda, South Africa, Kenya, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Under Ham's leadership, Chipper Cash has raised over $300 million, reaching a valuation of over $2 billion, and is widely considered one of the most valuable startups in Africa. Prior to Chipper Cash, Ham worked at Meta (formerly Facebook) in Dublin, Ireland, where he built partner relationships with major UK advertisers. He holds a bachelor's degree in Economics from Grinnell College and serves on its Board of Trustees, where he is part of the Investment Committee overseeing the college's $3.5 billion endowment. In September 2023, President Biden appointed Ham as one of the inaugural members of the President’s Advisory Council on African Diaspora Engagement in the United States, a role he will serve for the 2023-2025 term. On a personal level, Ham swam competitively for many years and competed in the 2010 Youth Olympic Games in Singapore, representing Uganda. He attended the Aga Khan Academy in Mombasa, where he was elected President of its Students’ Council.
