About this Program
The Africa Food Prize (formerly the Yara Prize, established 2005) is the pre-eminent award for recognising extraordinary individuals or institutions whose contributions to African agriculture forge a new era of sustainable food security and economic opportunity. Winners receive a USD 100,000 award. The Prize Committee is an independent body chaired by former Tanzanian President H.E. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete. Past laureates include entrepreneurs, scientists, community organizers, business leaders, and policy makers contributing to a green revolution in Africa. The 2024 winner was Tinotenda Mhiko, CEO of ARDA Zimbabwe, for his leadership in irrigation initiatives transforming Zimbabwe's food systems.

Eligibility
Individuals, institutions, and organisations whose contributions to African agriculture demonstrate measurable impact on food security, sustainable agriculture, smallholder farmer livelihoods, or African food systems transformation.
