About Aburi Botanical Gardens

Aburi Botanical Gardens is one of Ghana's oldest botanical gardens, located in Aburi, Eastern Region, approximately 30 kilometres north of Accra. Established in 1890 by the British colonial government on a 64.8-hectare site in the Akuapem Hills, the gardens feature thousands of tropical plant species, majestic avenues of royal palms and mahogany trees, a medicinal plants section, and historical structures. Aburi is a popular destination for Ghanaian day-trippers, school excursions, and international tourists seeking a cool-climate escape from Accra.
