BUA Cement PLC

BUA Cement PLC is Nigeria's second-largest cement manufacturer and one of the largest listed companies on the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX: BUACEMENT), with cement production capacity of approximately 17 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA) across plants in Edo State (Obu-Okpella, 8 Mta across two lines) and Sokoto State (Cement Company of Northern Nigeria, 4.5 Mta across two lines), with a new 3 MMTPA facility in Ososo, Edo State targeted for commissioning in early 2027. The company was formed in January 2020 through a USD 3.3 billion merger of Obu Cement Company (owned by the BUA Group) with the publicly listed Cement Company of Northern Nigeria, in which Abdul Samad Rabiu already held a controlling stake. Abdul Samad Rabiu owns 98.2% of BUA Cement PLC. The company is a top-ten listed company in sub-Saharan Africa by market capitalisation and secured a USD 500 million financing package from the IFC in 2023 to fund expansion.
