About Centre for Plant Medicine Research
The Centre for Plant Medicine Research (CPMR) is Ghana's foremost research institute for traditional and herbal medicine, located in Mampong-Akuapem, Eastern Region. Founded in 1975 by Dr Oku Ampofo (a pioneering Ghanaian physician and herbalist), CPMR researches Ghanaian medicinal plants, develops herbal remedies, and operates a herbal clinic and pharmacy producing scientifically-validated herbal products including popular remedies for malaria (Phyto-Laria), diabetes, hypertension, and other conditions. The centre is a national reference point for integrating Ghanaian traditional medicine with modern pharmacology.
