About Dangote Petroleum Refinery
Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals (part of Dangote Oil Refining Company Limited) is the largest single-train petroleum refinery in the world and the largest refinery in Africa, located in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State, with a nameplate refining capacity of 650,000 barrels per day. The complex also houses a petrochemical plant, a fertiliser plant, and supporting power infrastructure, and was spearheaded by Aliko Dangote from 2013 with construction completed in 2023 and official commissioning in May 2023. The refinery is designed to meet 100% of Nigeria's refined petroleum product demand (gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, kerosene, and LPG) and export surplus production to regional and global markets, eliminating Nigeria's reliance on imported refined fuels. The project represents the largest single industrial investment in Nigerian history, with total capital cost estimated at approximately USD 20 billion.
