First Bank of Nigeria Holdings PLC (FBN Holdings) is the parent company of First Bank of Nigeria Limited, Nigeria's oldest bank and one of the largest financial services groups in Nigeria. The bank was founded in 1894 as the Bank for British West Africa (BBWA) by Sir Alfred Lewis Jones, a British shipping magnate, making it Nigeria's oldest continuously operating bank with over 130 years of banking history. First Bank became Nigerianised and renamed First Bank of Nigeria in 1979. The holding company is listed on the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX: FBNH) and operates across banking (First Bank of Nigeria Limited, FBNBank UK, FBNQuest Merchant Bank), insurance, asset management, and other financial services.
