The Larabanga Mosque in Larabanga village, Savannah Region, Ghana, is one of the oldest mosques in West Africa, built in the Sudano-Sahelian architectural style with mud and reeds. Estimated to date from the early 1400s, the mosque is often referred to as "the Mecca of West Africa" and is listed by the World Monuments Fund among the 100 most endangered sites. Larabanga serves as both an active Muslim place of worship and a significant cultural heritage tourism site attracting visitors en route to Mole National Park.
