About Lekki Deep Sea Port

Lekki Deep Sea Port is the first deep-water seaport in Nigeria, located in the Lagos Free Zone in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State. Commissioned in January 2023 by former President Muhammadu Buhari, the port is a USD 1.5 billion investment developed as a joint venture between China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC, 54%), Tolaram Group of Singapore (22.5%, through Lekki Port LFTZ Enterprise Limited), Nigerian Ports Authority (20%), and the Lagos State Government (5%). The port has an initial container handling capacity of 2.7 million TEUs per annum, and is designed to relieve congestion at the older Apapa and Tin Can Island ports and serve as a regional transshipment hub for West Africa.
