About Nigerian Exchange Group
Nigerian Exchange Group PLC (NGX Group) is the integrated financial markets infrastructure group of Nigeria, listed on the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX: NGXGROUP). Founded in 1960 as the Lagos Stock Exchange, which commenced trading on 25 August 1961 with 19 listed securities, it was renamed The Nigerian Stock Exchange in December 1977. The Exchange was demutualised in March 2021 from a member-owned non-profit entity into a shareholder-owned public company limited by shares, creating NGX Group PLC as a holding company with three wholly-owned subsidiaries: Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX, the operating exchange), NGX Regulation Limited (NGX RegCo, the independent regulator), and NGX Real Estate Limited (NGX RelCo). The operating exchange NGX hosts 151 listed companies across the Premium, Main, Growth, and ASeM boards, with total market capitalisation of approximately NGN 131 trillion as of April 2026. In March 2026, the NGX All-Share Index crossed 200,000 points for the first time in its history. Dr Umaru Kwairanga is Chairman, Temi Popoola is Group Managing Director/CEO of NGX Group, Jude Chiemeka is CEO of Nigerian Exchange Limited, and Olufemi Shobanjo is CEO of NGX Regulation Limited.
