About Ntonso Adinkra Cloth Makers
Ntonso is a village in the Ashanti Region of Ghana approximately 20 kilometres from Kumasi, known as the traditional centre for producing Adinkra cloth - hand-stamped fabric featuring intricate Asante symbols that each carry proverbs and philosophical meanings. Ntonso artisans produce natural dyes (from Badie tree bark), hand-carve Adinkra stamps, and print the cloth using traditional techniques passed down through generations. The village operates as a cultural tourism destination and supplies authentic Adinkra cloth to Ghanaian and international customers.
