About Studio 189
Studio 189 is a Ghanaian artisan-produced sustainable fashion and social enterprise lifestyle brand co-founded by American actress Rosario Dawson and Ghanaian-American fashion executive Abrima Erwiah in 2013. Based in Accra with a retail presence in New York, Studio 189 produces menswear, womenswear, and children's wear manufactured in Accra, partnering with communities specialising in natural plant-based indigo dye, hand batik, kente weaving, and traditional craft. The brand supports community-led projects in Africa and the USA and has won the prestigious CFDA Lexus Fashion Initiative for Sustainability. Studio 189 has been showcased at Lagos Fashion Week, New York Fashion Week, and featured in Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, and The New York Times.
