About Unilever Nigeria PLC
Unilever Nigeria PLC is the Nigerian subsidiary of Anglo-Dutch consumer goods giant Unilever, listed on the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX: UNILEVER). Established in Nigeria in 1923 as Lever Brothers (West Africa) Limited, it is one of the oldest continuously-operating FMCG companies in Nigeria, with over a century of trading history. The company manufactures and markets home-care, personal-care, and food brands including Omo (detergent), Sunlight (soap), Lifebuoy, Lux, Pears (baby care), Close-Up (toothpaste), Vaseline, Knorr, Royco, and Lipton Tea, among others. Unilever Nigeria operates a major manufacturing facility in Agbara (Ogun State) and historically also had plants in Oregun (Lagos). In 2023, Unilever announced the exit of its home-care and skin-cleansing product portfolio from Nigeria as part of a global portfolio rationalisation, retaining only its food, refreshment, skin-care, and oral-care lines.
