About United Bank for Africa
United Bank for Africa PLC (UBA) is one of Africa's leading pan-African financial institutions, listed on the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX: UBA) and operating in 20 African countries plus the United Kingdom, United States, France, and the UAE. The bank's modern transformation began in 2005 with its merger with Standard Trust Bank (led by Tony Elumelu), which became one of Nigeria's defining banking consolidation transactions. Tony Onyemaechi Elumelu CFR (founder of Heirs Holdings, Transcorp Chairman, and champion of "Africapitalism") is the Group Chairman. Oliver Alawuba was appointed Group Managing Director/CEO in 2022. UBA serves over 45 million customers globally and is the only African bank with a US commercial banking license.
