Absa Group set to receive KSh2bn from Absa Bank Kenya interim payout

The Africa Report · Aug 18, 2026 · 1 min read

Absa Bank Kenya has increased its interim dividend to KSh0.50 a share, sending about KSh2bn to parent company Absa Group, according to The Africa Report.

Absa Group is set to receive about KSh2bn, or roughly $15.5m, from Absa Bank Kenya after the lender increased its interim dividend to KSh0.50 per share.

The payment increases the amount flowing to the South African parent from the Kenyan subsidiary. This comes at a time when the Nairobi-listed bank is being positioned as a key source of distributions for the group.

The Africa Report said the interim payout was more than double the previous level. The move comes even as Absa Bank Kenya reported a 10% decline in profit for the first half.

The item indicates that Absa Group is using the Kenyan unit as an important dividend channel. It also points to the payout ahead of a stake increase, as referenced in The Africa Report's coverage.

The figures highlighted in the report centre on the KSh0.50 per share interim dividend. They also centre on the estimated KSh2bn expected to reach Absa Group from its Kenyan subsidiary.
