GESR
About GESR
GESR is a program affiliated with Misr El-Kheir Foundation, launched in 2013, dedicated to fostering a knowledge-based economy by supporting innovators and technology startups that tackle social challenges in Egypt. The program focuses on sectors such as Water, Energy, Food, Health, Education, AI, and IoT, assisting social entrepreneurs with hardware and IoT innovations throughout various stages of the innovation cycle—from idea to prototype, and from prototype to market-fit products. GESR also helps these entrepreneurs find matching investment opportunities. In 2017, GESR became an EU-BIC Accredited incubator as part of The Social Innovation Cluster Project funded by the European Union. GESR offers a range of services to support startups, including funding, legal assistance, networking, training, marketing, and access to working spaces. The program has successfully conducted multiple incubation cycles, receiving numerous applicants from various governorates and incubating several startups. These efforts have led to the creation of job opportunities and the development of innovative products addressing social issues. GESR's approach emphasizes the importance of technological innovation in driving Egypt's economic development and aims to create new generations of innovators and entrepreneurs. Through its initiatives, GESR collaborates with various partners, including Vodafone, Pepsico, IBM, The World Bank, UNDP, Afrilab, and Ashoka, to provide comprehensive support to startups. The program's mission aligns with Misr El-Kheir Foundation's broader goal of contributing to Egypt's economic and social revival by promoting innovation and entrepreneurship across the country's governorates.
