Established in 2010 as part of Morocco's national digital strategy, Maroc Numeric Fund is the country's first venture capital fund focused on technology startups. With a capital of 100 million dirhams, it aims to support talented entrepreneurs in Morocco by providing financial resources and strategic guidance to foster innovation and economic development. The fund is managed by MITC Capital, a subsidiary of the public-private entity MITC, which oversees five technoparks across Morocco. Maroc Numeric Fund primarily invests in early-stage technology companies, including sectors such as Fintech, EdTech, Regtech, HealthTech, Biotech, EnergyTech, Cybersecurity, and SaaS. The fund offers investment tickets ranging from 1 to 8 million dirhams, targeting startups with high growth potential. In 2018, the fund expanded its investment strategy to include startups founded by Moroccans residing abroad, aiming to strengthen the connection between the Moroccan diaspora and the local startup ecosystem. As of 2024, Maroc Numeric Fund has invested in 32 companies and has one portfolio exit, demonstrating its active role in the Moroccan startup ecosystem. The fund's approach combines financial support with active involvement, offering strategic advice and governance participation to its portfolio companies. This hands-on approach aims to transform ambitious ideas into profitable technology enterprises that lead their sectors and generate employment opportunities in Morocco.
