Comrades Marathon Association

The Comrades Marathon is the world's oldest and largest ultramarathon, held annually between Pietermaritzburg and Durban in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa since 1921. Covering approximately 87-90 kilometres (alternating "up" and "down" runs between the two cities each year), Comrades attracts around 20,000 runners from over 60 countries and is considered the ultimate South African endurance test. The race is organised by the Comrades Marathon Association and is one of the most prestigious ultramarathon events in world athletics.
