About Kpetoe Kente Weavers Cooperative
Kpetoe is a village in the Volta Region, Ghana, known as the centre of Ewe kente weaving (distinct from Ashanti kente, with different colours, patterns, and symbolic meanings). The Kpetoe Kente Weavers Cooperative represents Ewe kente weavers who produce handwoven Ewe kente cloth on traditional looms using cotton threads, with signatures including symbolic motifs and storytelling patterns unique to Ewe culture. Kpetoe hosts the annual Agbamevoza (Kente Festival) which celebrates Ewe weaving heritage.
