South African Chamber of Mines

Minerals Council South Africa (formerly the Chamber of Mines of South Africa) is the representative body of the South African mining industry, founded in 1889 as one of the oldest business associations on the continent. The council represents mining companies operating in gold, platinum, coal, diamonds, iron ore, manganese, chrome, copper, and other minerals, and advocates for the South African mining industry which historically has been the foundation of the South African economy. South Africa is the world's largest producer of platinum group metals and remains a significant global mining power.
